Prema Amma

Prema Amma is the great force behind the worldwide Spiritual Yoga® organization, which she co-founded with Prema Baba. With her tender loving presence, she opens the hearts of many to a deep experience of spirituality, forgiveness and inner peace.

Her life is dedicated to service to others by offering help, blessings and healing.

Amma grew up as an extroverted and happy child. However, her life changed when, at the age of nine, she was injured by teasing boys who had thrown a stone, causing her to lose part of the vision in her left eye and later, due to complications, her entire left eye.

She became very introverted in the following years; this deepened her spirituality and awareness. Her compassion for people with disabilities grew and her interest in healing was awakened. During high school and college, she blossomed again. She regained her exuberance and particularly enjoyed dancing. After graduation, she went to work as a manager in a steel mill.

During this period, she was in her early thirties, Amma received a mystical vision and experienced a spiritual awakening while working in the steel mill. During this time, mystical visions and her intuition brought her back to her Catholic faith. She also studied many spiritual paths and alternative forms of healing, learned meditation, and all about gemstones, and went to graduate school for her Masters in Social Work.

Prema Amma practiced Therapeutic Touch and Sufism. She married a fellow Sufi and became pregnant, but their infant daughter was born at home with a heart defect and a form of childhood cancer, requiring hospitalization and tube feeding for more than three years. Through meditation, prayer and a deep belief in healing, Amma pursued her path. She sought other forms of healing for her daughter and became a Reiki Master herself. Eventually her daughter recovered and has developed into a beautiful radiant woman. Prema Amma says, “I always kept faith, although overcoming the disease was a long process and limited finances were a struggle, God always provided a solution.”

Amma qualified as a Reiki Master Teacher and helped develop one of the first Reiki clinics in a hospital in Arizona. She taught medical professionals through the UA Integrative Program. She also gained extensive experience as a Life Coach, Energy Healing teacher, MSW, and ULC ordained minister. Prema Amma is a treasure trove of spiritual wisdom and love, offering compassion and loving support to many.

Prema Amma first met Baba at a hypnotherapy seminar in 2003 and they met several times over the years as colleagues. In 2020, she inwardly received a call from Babaji to contact Baba. At that time, Baba had just gone through a very difficult time himself and was ill. From then on, Amma brought all her knowledge and expertise to help Baba heal. Their friendship deepened and an aura of love formed; they married in June 2022.

Now they dedicate themselves together from Arizona to spread love and give many the opportunity to grow spiritually with Spiritual Yoga.
